Mrs. Betty Collins, of Dyersburg, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2025 at Okeena Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born October 28, 1934 in Steele, MO. to the late Lucian and Elizabeth Cooper. She was a devoted homemaker and mother. She is fondly remembered for her baking and sweet treats, including pastries and banana pudding. She was a ling-time fan of the music and movies of Elvis Presley. She enjoyed travel, experiencing other countries and cultures, including Egypt, China, Australia, Japan and church trips to the Holy Land. She was an active member of the Church of God in Belle Glade, FL, where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years.

Betty is survived by her daughters Tana Lonon Rogers and husband, Steve, of Sevierville, TN and Jackie Farrow-Layfield and husband, Michael, of Dyersburg, TN. She was loved as Gran-Gran by her grandchildren Matthew Brown, of Filmore, CA, Heather Walker of Albuquerque, NM and Lindsey Allen, of Athens, GA. and a great-grandson Matthew Brown, Jr. as well as her nieces and nephews David Cooper of Paragould, AR, Terry Northcutt of Blytheville, AR and Donna Femia of Baton Rouge, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Collins, a son, Ricky Allen and a sister Geraldine Clark.

She knew many people through her work at Thomas Industries in Dyersburg. She was a life-long resident of Finley and member of Finley United Pentecostal Church. She was a devoted mother and caregiver who loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great cook and is fondly remembered for the sweet treats she made and shared, including her divinity and fudge. She loved shopping for bargains at local yard sales.

Linda is survived by her son James Clifford Wilson of Dyersburg, her brother Max Jones of Spring Hill, TN, her grandchildren Heather Reeves, Justin Wilson and Cody Wilson (Kristen) and great-grandchildren Madison Reeves, Hayden, Jayce, Jaxon, Whit, Kye and Berkley Wilson.

Mr. Larry Wayne Skinner, of Dyersburg, passed away Monday, September 29, 2025 at his home. He was born August 6, 1948 in Culleoka, TN to the late Jim Tom and Rosie Skinner. Larry was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and proudly served in the United States Army and retired after serving in the Tennessee National Guard for many years. He is well known in Dyer County for his work as an Agricultural Extension Agent and the county 4-H coordinator for local schools. His love of sports was evident to kids and families as he coached basketball for many years at the Dyersburg Activity Center. His dedication to young people carried over in later years as a bus driver for Dyer County Schools. In his free time, he was a fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and Atlanta Braves and participated in adult bowling leagues, where he met his future wife, Bonnie. He and Bonnie were long-time members of West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

Larry is survived by his wife, Bonnie Hicks Skinner, a nephew that he raised, Ricky Wayne Lamb, his brother John Randolph Skinner, his sisters Betty Carolyn Cheek, Audrey Faye Savage and Kathy Arzadon as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jim Frank Skinner, Bill Skinner and Tommy Ray Skinner and sisters Daisy Lee Cannady, Annie Jean Cannady and Marie Skinner.

Joe's professional journey led him to serve with dedication in the State of TN Highway Department, but it was his military service that shaped much of his character. He honorably served in the 101st Airborne Army during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery. Mr. David Samuel Denman, of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 at his home. He was born July 18, 1940 in Dayton, TN and later moved to Stamps, AR, where he graduated high school and excelled in many areas. He was an accomplished musician and a fiercely competitive athlete, winning many awards and titles at both the high-school and collegiate level. He also competed in track and field events later in life, winning many races and setting records. His faith and love of music gave him many opportunities to perform in local churches both solo and in various groups. His career as an adjustor for State Farm Insurance spanned 35 years in the Dyer County area. He is lovingly remembered for his Christian faith and dedication to his family. He shared his love of sports and music with his family as well as his spirit of generosity toward others.

David is survived by his wife, Carolyn Simmons, his daughter Melanie Jackson and husband, J. Paul, his sons, David S. Denman, Jr. and Jason Denman and wife, Lori, his sisters Roselyn Witherspoon and Kay Payne. He was greatly loved as Granddaddy by his grandchildren; Micah, Joshua and EmiJoy Denman, Lauren and Hannah Jackson, McKenzie Odom and Sara Marlin as well as his great-grandchildren; Max and Madeline Odom and another on the way. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Maxine "Sena" Denman, their son, Joey Denman, his parents Rev. E.H. Denman, Sr. and Lela Cox Denman, his sisters Carolyn Leonard and Mary Hankins and Rachel Denman, his brothers Rev. E.H. Denman, Jr. Leland Denman and James Denman and a grandson Samuel Bing Denman.

She and her husband were long-time members of Hillcrest Baptist Church. They also are remembered for their participation in the Forked Deer Antique Auto Club shows, where she wore her signature poodle-skirt while showing their 1957 Chevrolet. They were both active amateur radio operators with her call-sign of W4FNN. Shirley is fondly known to many as "Granny" for her loving participation in family and local activities including school band boosters, Cub Scout and Girl Scout leadership and the Dyersburg Fabrics bowling teams. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, thrift-shopping and even motorcycle riding in her younger years.

Mr. Laddie Lee Owens, 86, of Dyersburg, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living. He was born October 25, 1938 in Wardell, Missouri to the late John R. and Carmen Owens. Laddie was a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Martin and Freed Hardeman University and proudly served in the United Staes Navy, later retiring after a long career as an adjustor for State Farm Insurance. He was a man of many interests but they all revolved around time with other people. He was a member of several breakfast or coffee groups at local diners and cafes. He worked in the community through the Newbern Lions Club. He enjoyed travelling, cars and boats, fishing, bowling, baseball and softball leagues, card games and was an avid University of Tennessee and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is remembered by family and friends for his outgoing and charming personality, always ready to tell jokes and share riddles. In the fall, he loved to gather pecans, process them and then share them with anyone he knew. It was his way of "paying it forward." Laddie was a long-time member and deacon at West Dyersburg Church of Christ where he is remembered by many as "The Candy Man". He also has served as s Church of Christ minister and song leader over the years.

Laddie is survived by his children, Kevin Lee Owens, Kathy Tidwell and Christy Moore; his brothers, Marion and Jack Owens; a sister, Ruth Carol Ringold; and was loved as "Pop or PawPaw" by his grandchildren, Victoria Williamson, Landon and Logan Moore; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Lee Williamson, John Taylor Williamson, Nora Williamson and Everly Williamson.

Peggy is survived by her son William Alan Clark, a brother, Jerry Wayne Fulcher, two sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Mae Thompson and Judy Moore, her grandchildren, Tony Alan Clark, Stacy Lynn Bosworth and Katherine Irene Clark and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Sharbeno, Emma Clark, Jacob Wright and Cannon Wright. It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Justice Allen Baker, who left this world far too soon on September 6, 2025, at the age of 22. Born on March 12, 2003, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Justice was a radiant spirit whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of everyone he met. He is deeply mourned by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Justice was the beloved son of the late Milton Duffie Jr. and the late Jennifer Terry. He is survived by his adopted mother, Terri Ann (Terry) Reynolds of Halls, TN; his three devoted sisters, Alexis Miller of Atoka, TN, Madison Tayon Terry of Halls, TN, and Presley Bonds of Dyersburg, TN; and his seven brothers: Jeremiah Terry of Gates, TN, Deshun Duffie of Gates, TN, Milton Taron Duffie of Gates, TN, Brian Jones of Chicago, IL, Keyonte Rogers of Chicago, IL, Martell Rogers of Chicago, IL, and Devonta Duffie of Chicago, IL. In addition to his family, Justice leaves behind numerous friends and extended family who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

Mr. Robert Stephen "Steve" Fowlkes, of Newbern, passed away September 5, 2025 at his home. Steve was born October 12,1959 in Dyersburg, TN, to the late Robert Arch Fowlkes and Mildred Swims Fowlkes. He was a production employee of Colonial Rubberworks in Dyersburg and was a life-long Tennessee Volunteer fan. He enjoyed horses and all types of show cars in his younger years.

Steve is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Arch Fowlkes III.

Carl was a graduate of The University of Tennessee where he studied Engineering and then received a master's degree from Memphis State University. His career as a Civil Engineer began with Memphis Light, Gas & Water, then the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and finally with Forcum-Lannom Contractors in Dyersburg. Carl was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon-Emeritus, and Chairman of the Personnel Committee. He is remembered for his outgoing nature, never meeting a stranger and his love for any activity outdoors, especially duck hunting and neighborhood rides with his dogs.

Carl is survived by his wife, Carol House, his son Kurt House and wife, Erin, of Knoxville, TN, his son-in-law, Edward L. "Ted" Carreira, of Scituate, MA. and was greatly loved as "Pop" by his six grandchildren: Parker, Ethan, Asher and Dylan House and Colin and Trevor Carreira. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Amy House Carreira and his parents.
