Mrs. Nancy Moody, of Tiptonville, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Signature Healthcare in Ridgely, TN. Nancy was born in Chicago, IL on October 11, 1964 to the late Ewell and Martha White. During her adult life, she worked in various areas of retail service and as a security guard for Colonial Rubber Works in Dyersburg. Her family were the most important thing in her life. She loved to support them in any way she could, including gifts and acts of service, like crocheting baby blankets for her grandchildren. She was a collector of spoons for many years and her family liked to add to her collection when they travelled or shopped. She enjoyed time spent outdoors, fishing and target shooting. Her first date with her future husband was a fishing trip to the Mississippi River, which was successful in more ways than one.

Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, of almost 30 years, James Moody, her daughter Tabitha Brewer, her sister Margaret Jacques, the members of the Abbott Family and was greatly loved as "MeMaw" by her grandchildren; Ethan, Alyssa, Emma-Leigh,James Tobias and Aubrie. She also leaves her constant canine companion and lap-warmer,Molly. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sons James Calvin Moody and Cody Allen Moody.

Mrs. Kathy Shumate Zabel, of Tiptonville, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026 at Jackson General Hospital. Kathy was born October 31, 1951. She had a love for children, working for both the Easter Seals organization and the Lake County Health Department making home checkup visits. She had a deep love for horses and shared that with all of her family. They traveled West Tennessee to the various saddle clubs, showing and competing. Her role was as groom for her famlies' horses, taking care and pride in preparing them for shows. She loved the varied styles of music that were popular in the 1970's and 80's, especially Rock & Roll. Her family treasured her devotion to them, often putting their needs ahead of her own. In 1975, as a student at Dyersburg State Community College, she caught the eye of a campus photographer, fresh out of the US Navy, and they soon married. In the spring of 2026, the Zabel family celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, Roy Zabel; her sons, John Shumate and wife, Angie, and Joshua Robert Zabel; and a daughter, Marilyn Burton and husband, Jarid. She was greatly loved as "Mama-Kathy, May-May, Gangy, Granny" and other nicknames by her grandchildren; James Logan, Hunter, Aubree, Anna, Peyton, Diana and Dante; and her great-granddaughter, Wrenlee. Mrs. Nancy LaMeryl Pike, of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2026, at her home. LaMeryl was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She truly enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including cooking and sewing for family and friends and tending her flower gardens and landscaping at their home. Her Christian faith was of utmost importance, and she loved to share the hope found in Jesus Christ with anyone she met. She and her husband bought and shared small metal crosses with those they crossed paths with, spreading God’s love. These crosses number nearly 9,000 over many years of their life together. She served as a life-member of the Gideons Women’s Auxiliary supporting the Bible distribution ministry. She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Dyersburg. Family gatherings were some of her happiest times. She and her husband loved to cook and decorate for every holiday, opening their home to family and friends to celebrate together.

LaMeryl is survived by her husband of 69 years, William “Bill” Pike, her son Joe Pike and wife, Lavette, her daughters, Teresa Heathcott and husband, Brian and Lisa Willems and husband, Richard, and her sister Janie Zumbro. There she worked as a machinery operator for the Professional Products Co. During those years, she met her future husband, Rev. Monroe Jackson Darby, while he was preaching a local revival. Her faith was an important part of her life as she supported her husband's ministry. She loved singing in church and listening to old-time Gospel music on the radio. After his passing, she returned to Dyersburg and was active at The Way Pentecostal Church. In her free time, she was a devoted fan of MLB player Freddy Freeman, of the Atlanta Braves and L.A. Dodgers and loved NFL football, eagerly anticipating the Super Bowl each season.

Edgar had a true passion for the people in his community, and his priorities of Faith, Family and values of Boy Scouting were evident in all he did. He was a long-time member of Phillips Street Church of Christ, where he was a Deacon, Elder, Bible teacher, and filled in to preach at his congregation (and others) as needed. He also served as a youth minister even before it became an official title.
