He was a retired auto body repairman for Lowery's Body Shop, where he worked for over 36 years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Big John was a member of the Volunteer Examiner Amateur Radio Service, the Amateur Radio Operator WB4RCK and W4FN, the Rag Chewers Club, the American Radio Relay League and the Military Affiliate Radio System ADM4RCK. He was also members of the Country Cousins Amateur Radio Network, the ARRL DXCC Honor Roll WB4RCK, the Forked Deer Antique Car Club and the Disabled Veteran's Association. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Lexington.

After leaving the Army, he went into the family business, selling International Harvester tractors and farming. He spent every day of his life doing the thing he loved most, farming his land. He enjoyed his morning coffee friends and spending time in the duck blind. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder.

She retired, after 30 plus years, as a Materials and Components Purchaser with ERMCO. Sandra was a faithful member of Phillips Street Church of Christ and a longtime supporter of Potter Children's Home in Bowling Green, KY. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her grandchildren. Along with her many animals, she cherished cooking, gardening, singing, and writing poetry.
