Willie Mae Shelton, 87 , of Camden, TN, formerly of Dyersburg, died Tuesday August 11, 2015 at Camden Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born February 16, 1928 to the late Charlie and Zona Lee Heathcott Hall. She was a member of the Fort Hudson Baptist Church and an avid Southern Gospel Music fan. One of Willie Mae's greatest pleasures was the time she spent in her kitchen cooking. Funeral services for Mrs. Shelton will be graveside at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Dyer County Memorial Gardens conducted by Brother Jeremy Shelton. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn King and Faye Shelton of Camden, TN; three sons: Harris Shelton of Camden, TN, Donald Shelton of Newbern, TN and Johnny Shelton of Dyersburg, TN; one sister: Helen Putman of Dyersburg, TN; seven grandchildren; and, thirteen great-grandchildren. A.T. "Buck" Garner, 92, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was born January 29, 1923 to the late Cager and Ottie Edna Garner. He was a retired certified public accountant. Mr. Garner was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1951 where he taught Jr Boys (11-12 year olds) for 35 years, was a deacon, treasurer for 39 years, trustee and sang with the Men's Chorale. He was a former member of the Dyersburg Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, 32 degree Mason Lodge and a volunteer Red Coat at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center for 16 years. Funeral services for Mr. Garner will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Mike Hickman. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. He is the son of the late John Hillard and the late Margie Lee Fincher. He was a factory employee serving in the maintenance and quality control departments. Later in life he found much joy as a substitute teacher. She was an avid gardener, growing and selling, nationwide, over 1600 varieties of Iris and Daylillies. The mention of her name to many people brings back memories of rows and rows of beautiful Irises. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Meeks and her only child, Danny Meeks in 1978. She was also preceded in death by a sister; Crystal Nichols and two brothers: Guy Braden and James Braden. She is survived by three grandchildren: Jimmy (Mary Nola) Meeks of Halls, TN, David (Melissa) Meeks of Halls, TN and John Meeks of Halls, TN. Mrs. Christine also leaves four great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren. She also leaves her beloved daughter in law, friend, and caregiver, Linda Mitchell. He was a charter member of Dyersburg Breakfast Rotary Club where he served as Treasurer and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a red coat volunteer at the hospital, board member of Dyer County Literacy Program, a past-president of the Dyer County Fair Association, a past president of the UT Alumni Association and an Air Force veteran. Funeral services for Mr. Stafford will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Dell King and Reverend Ed White. John Haakon Hoff, 81, of Dyersburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at The Highlands of Dyersburg. Born May 26, 1934 to Einar Benjamin and Elizabeth Dubose Hoff, he was retired as Dyer County Chancery Clerk and Master (appointed in 1994 by Judge Steve Stafford) after he had been in the insurance business for 37 years. Mr. Hoff was past president and board member of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce. He was the Chamber's Man of the Year in 1992. He was also former president and former chairman of the board of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission, past president and board member of the Dyersburg Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, past president of the Dyer County Fair Association and served as a Dyersburg alderman for 12 years. He was voted Outstanding Young Man of at the Year in 1969. John had many beloved friends. Services for Mr. Hoff will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Wally Bumpas. Visitation will begin at 12 noon until service time at the church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Jane Parker Hoff; his daughters, Betsy Hoff Shelton, Kitty Reaves Harris, Jennifer Hoff Reavis; and his son Robert Reaves; his brother, Einar B.
