He was President, co-owner and operator of Billy Rogers Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. Sammy gave a life of service active as both Deacon at Mount Vernon Baptist Church and a current member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He led a fulfilled life by glowing love for his sons and grandchildren and being a friend to everyone he knew. The loves of his life were his family, baseball, cooking and yardwork. He was a former member of the Tennessee National Guard.

Mrs. Grubb was a former teacher, social worker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of dancing, particularly square dancing, with her husband, Alex.

She is the daughter of the late Harold and the late Mary Frances (Long) Davis. She married James Edward "Slick" Hartsfield Jr. She was a Homemaker. Rosie Lee Blankenship Gillon, age 98 of Dyersburg, TN passed away on March 16, 2016 peacefully at her home. She was best known as Miss Rosie or Granny to her friends and family. She was born in Dyer Co, TN on July 2, 1917 to the late Lannie B. and Myrtle M. Blankenship. Rosie spent her life on the farm as a loving housewife and mother. She was a member of Archer's Chapel UMC in FrogJump, TN. Rosie was preceeded in death by her husband of 47 years, Holis W. Gillon, a son, Woodrow L. Gillion, a grand-daughter, Misty Dawn Gilliland, two sisters, Daisy Gruggett , Lessie Ezekiel and a brother, Lannie B. Blankenship, Jr. She is survived by four daughters, Betty Gean (Malcolm), Janie Thompson (Clyde) of Dyersburg, TN, Sue Davis (Kenneth) of Bells, Lassie Young (Steve Hollis) of Friendship, TN, three sons, Darrell Gillon (Betty) of Dyersburg, TN, Tommy Gillon (Phyllis) of FrogJump, TN, Donald Gillon (Lynda) of Tigrett, TN. Granny leaves eleven grandchildren, Dr. Rodney Gean of Hendersonville, TN, Laurie Burnham of Ripley, TN, Jeffery Gillion of Halls, TN, Shannon Gillon of FrogJump, TN, Tammy Donaldson, Bart Gillon and Amy Kolwyck of Dyersburg, TN, Holly Garrett and Heath Davis of Bells, TN, Jennifer Peterson of Findley, Ohio and Donna Taylor of Olive Branch, MS. She also leaves fifteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two loving and faithful caregivers, Rita Ellison and Lisa Caswell. Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 from 5 til 8 pm at Archer's Chapel UMC at 356 Archer's Chapel Rd in Halls, TN Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm also at Archer's Chapel UMC with Rev. Richard "Louis" Hunt, age 87, of Gates died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the TN. State Veterans Home of Humboldt, TN. Louis was born January 1, 1929 in Gates, TN. He is the son of the late Jonas Richard and the late Lena (Moore) Hunt. He married Lil Jean Newman. Louis served in the Korean War. He retired from Tupperware in 1985. Louis was also the Dairy Farm Manager of the TN state dairy farm at Fort Pillow.
