Frances Warren McNeill, 96, of Halls, Tennessee, passed away peacefully April 8, 2017, at the Alamo Nursing Home in Alamo, Tennessee. She was born to the late Presley and Daisy Smith in Friendship, Tennessee, November 10, 1920. A graduate of Friendship High School, she went to work at the Associate's Insurance Agency in South Bend, Indiana. After a short time, she returned home to work at the Halls Airbase during the war. It was at this time, that she met and married the late J.W. Warren of Forked Deer, Tennessee. They lived together in Halls until his death in 1973. She remarried in 1980 to the late M.R. McNeill of Troy, Tennessee. Frances was a wife and mother, first and foremost. She loved her church, Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist of Friendship, where she served as clerk for many years. An accomplished seamstress, excellent cook, and avid bridge player, she was loved by all for her wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her children, J.W. Warren Jr. (Betty) of Halls and Pat Adcock (Harry) of Trenton; a sister Mona Jeanne Jarrell of Springfield, Tennessee; a cousin Linda Brost of South Bend, Indiana; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Halls First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until the service time. Donations can be made to the Halls First United Methodist Church and Halls Cemetery Association. Born August 9, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Joe Bob and Sarah Davis Latham McNeill. She was a registered nurse for 41 years at Parkview Hospital and a member of Three Oaks Baptist Church. Mrs. Ledford was an avid reader and supported of McIvers Grant Public Library and the Humane Society.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery conducted by Reverend Bill Phipps. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.

Billy received a higher technical education from Newbern VoTech and continued a career in industrial maintenance throughout his lifetime. First, working at Hoover Universal for 10 years and then later retired from Quebecor World after 20 years of employment. Billy was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He was also former members of Lenox Baptist Church and West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

Jean Ball Spence passed away peacefully March 22, 2017. Born in 1928 in Lauderdale County, she attended Union University and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. For over forty years, she was a faculty member of Crockett and Lauderdale County School systems. A lover of her community, Jean enjoyed bridge, her friends, and especially music. She also dedicated many hours as a Board Member of the Veterans' Museum in Halls; a past Board Member of Western State Mental Health Board in Bolivar, TN; past President of the Halls First United Methodist Women; past Regent of the Fort Prudhomme DAR Chapter in Lauderdale County; and Life Member of Junior Auxillary of Lauderdale County in Ripley, TN. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, William G. Spence,Jr.; parents, Myra and Alvin Ball; and brother Francis Alvin Ball. She is survived by a daughter Susannah Brown(Bill) of Madison, MS., a son Will Spence(Katie) of Crockett County, four grandchildren, Hathaway McMillon(Alex), Guy Spence(Megan), William ( Buck) Brown, and Anna Rodgers(Wes) and four great-grandchildren, Wimberly McMillion, Liam Spence, Reed Rodgers, and Carter Spence. Visitation will be 10:00 to 12:00 with the service to follow at 12:00 on Saturday, March 25th, at First Halls United Methodist Church. The family asks that memorials be sent to First Halls United Methodist Church. Bill was a kind man and avid outdoorsman, whether it was farming from sunup to sundown or hunting his favorite wild game of the season. He was a deacon in the Baptist church and song leader for 35 plus years of his life. Married to his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Gibson Brewer, for 58 years this past Valentines Day, they loved golfing together with close friends. His great love extended, not only to his children and grandchildren, but to the community of family and friends of Halls and Dyersburg.

Celebration of Life services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Mt. Vernon Baptist conducted by Reverend Nathe Ozment with interment to follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
