She is the daughter of the late Samuel Guy and the late Wilma (Gunner) Henson. She was as a homemaker and former Tupperware employee. She is survived by three daughters: Sammie Ward of Halls, TN, Robin Burrow of Lake Of The Ozark, MO. and Donna Lents of Halls, TN: two sons: Leslie Shands and Richard Shands both of Halls, TN; two step-daughters: Glenda Hayles of Brighton, TN and Teresia Quilbio of Jackson, TN; a step-son, Dewayne Shands of Memphis, TN. Joyce is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Shands, step sons: Phillip Shands and Loyvoid Hill Jr. Joyce was also preceded in death by her husbands Wallace Shands, and Loyvoid Hill Sr. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8pm Monday at the Halls Funeral Home. He was a member for over 50 years and served as a Deacon for the Finley Baptist Church. He enjoyed the BBQ Hut Monday morning "Coffee Club". He served as a commissioner for the Dyersburg Suburban Utility District.

He was a US Navy Veteran. Paul was an avid hunter, fisherman, singer, harmonica player, carpenter, and he shot a mean game of pool.

She is survived by one daughter: Karen Duvall of Ripley, TN and two sons: Donnie Koonce of Murfreesboro, TN and Roger Duvall of Ripley, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild. Ruby was a Gold Star Mother, as she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Koonce (Vietnam War), and son, Terry Koonce.
