She was the sister of two sisters: Betty Collins of Memphis, TN and Shirley Meeks of Cordova, TN. Billie also leaves behind 5 grandchildren and a large school family that she dearly loved. Brenda was a retired factory worker who always took great pride in being a farmers wife. Brenda enjoyed the fellowship of her church and being actively involved with the activities of the Cloverdale Community Center. Services for Mrs. Gardner will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery at Cloverdale at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Brother Joe Thorn. Survivors include her daughter: Kim Dial and her husband, James of Cloverdale, TN; one granddaughter: Kelsy Dial of Cloverdale, TN; and two sisters: Kay Strawn of Dyersburg, TN, and Jan Kennedy of McLemoresville, TN. She was the sister of four brothers: Ernest Bushart , James Bushart , Lloyd Don Bushart all of Friendship, TN and Roy Lee Bushart of Memphis, TN. Momma C also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded on death by her sister, Glenda Byrd, and a grandson, John Beaird. H arry Prestley Smith was born on June 2, 1927 in Richardsville, Kentucky to Carter and Harley Smith. He was the 17th child born to his mother and the 20th born to his father. The family moved to Evansville, Indiana; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; then to Louisville, Kentucky. Two other siblings joined the family.

After living in Louisville, Harry, along with siblings Carter Jr, Fannie, and Billie, attended St. Vincent's Academy, a Catholic boarding school, in Henderson, Kentucky. At the end of Harry's third grade year, Mr. Smith gave his children the choice to remain living in Louisville or to move to Dyersburg, Tennessee. The children thought Dyersburg sounded like some exotic place a long distance away, so along with the fact the y did not want to remain at the boarding school, they made their choice and were on the road to Tennessee.

. Dorothy Jean Lemons Clark, 76, passed away at her home in Halls on Friday May 24th. 2019. She was the daughter of the late John R. and the late Geraldine (White) Lemons. Dorothy was a restaurant owner for most all of her life. In 1972, she started the original Tiger Grill. After selling the business she opened up Clark's Grocery, which later became known as DJ'S Diner and Deli. She ran DJ's very successfully for 35 years, until her health forced her retirement. Many fond memories where made at this little restaurant, as well as some lifelong relationships. Dorothy is survived by a daughter; Tammy (Ty) Brasfield of Halls, a son; Jimmy (Sherry) Clark of Friendship, and a special niece, whom she helped raise, Valerie Hargett of Halls. She is also survived by two step-daughters: Dinah Clark of Halls and Kay (Bill) Harber of Paris,TN. Dorothy leaves behind a sister; Jewel Dean (Bobbie) Raines of Leesburg, Al and two brothers: Dale Lemons of Ripley, and Bill (Cathy) Lemons of Gates,TN. Mamaw, as she was so lovingly referred to, leaves eight grandchildren: Magean (Stephen) Stephenson, Katie (Hunter) Newsome, Taylor (Dylan) Coleman, John Tyler Brasfield, Leann (Ryan) Hagen, Laura (Jason) Lee, Christy (Steven) Pledge, and Joseph (Katie) Brown. She was also blessed to have nine great-grandchildren, and one more on the way, thanks to Katie and Hunter Newsome. Dorothy also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who she loved and who loved her. She was preceded in death by a sister; Mary Ann Riley, and three brothers: J.R. Richard Harold R.H. "Red" Bond, 99, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Harborview of Dyersburg.

He was born on August 30, 1919 in Trenton, TN in Gibson County, to the late Guy Ransom Bond and the late Essie Yates Ward Bond. R.H. was a retired plant supervisor with for South Central Bell, where he worked for 43 years. In 1960 he was a Lay Leader for the United Methodist Church in Memphis. "Red" was a delegate to the United Methodist Jurisdictional Conference for 44 years and was also a delegate to the United Methodist General Conference for 36 years. He served on various General Conference Committees, including Evangelism, Native American and Episcopacy Committee. R.H. was twice honored by the United Methodist Church Annual Conference with Harry Denman Award for Outstanding Layman Evangelism and also traveled throughout the United States as a layman speaker for the United Methodist Church. He was a member of: Gideons for 10 years, Masons, Lions Club, Jaycees, Men's Tell Others Prayer Breakfast for 60 + years, Boy Scouts of America and the Annual Dyer County American Heart Association Fund Raising Chairman in 1962. In 1944 he volunteered for the United States Marines and was assigned to the 5th Regiment of the 1st Marine Division. He served in World War II in the South Pacific and China as a communication specialist and was trained in heavy weapons (invasion of Okinawa). Many people in this area know "Red" for his creation of fine wood carpentry. He cut the tree, milled the log, cured the wood, and created museum quality furniture. He enjoyed his woodworking hobby until the age of 95. "Red" delighted neighbors and friends with his gardening specialty of home-grown tomatoes and kept a garden and greenhouse growing a variety of vegetables throughout his life.
