On Monday, April 5 th , 2021, David Russell Duncan, loving husband and caring father of four children, passed away peacefully at the age of 76. David was born on July 14 th , 1944 to Russell and Martha Ann Duncan. He was raised in Martin, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1967. On October 24, 1970 he married Nancy Fowler Anderson. Together they raised two daughters: Teresa and Dee, and two sons: Bob and Brian. For over 45 years he worked for the citizens of northwest Tennessee in the Department of Health and Human Services.

David had a passion for his faith and his family. He was a long-time member and deacon of the Baptist church. He served at Westside Baptist Church in Trenton, TN and then First Baptist Church of Dyersburg after his family moved in 1987. He enjoyed singing in the choir, helping with the youth, and participating in community outreach. For almost 30 years, he and his wife led Sunday morning worship services to nursing home residents in Dyersburg. He loved his family and his family loved him. Always present but never desiring to be the center of attention, he was content just being with family and enjoying the fellowship. His easy-going nature and generous spirit endeared him to those whose lives he touched.

She helped raise many children and their children during the several years she worked at Kids World in Dyersburg. Mama Lou had been a lifetime member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and was a highly esteemed resident of Dyer County.

Ms. Janie Watkins, age 84, of Halls passed away Monday, March 15, 2021.Ms. Janie was born October 14, 1936. She is the daughter of the late Ira and the late Neoma (Pritchard) Cates. She is survived by two daughters: Marilyn (Marty) Buffaloe of Gates, TN and Janie Elaine McDonald and companion Bobby Bishop of Hobbs, NM, and three sons: William (Celia) Watkins of Memphis, TN, James Watkins of Sikeston, MO and John (Sharon) Watkins of Onieda, FL. Sister of two brothers: Gene (Liz) Cates of Memphis, TN and Jimmy (Paula) Cates of East Prarie, MO. She also leaves 10 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Ms. Janie was preceded in death by her husband James Franklin Watkins. Graveside services will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday, March 16 at Greenhill Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 209, Halls, TN with Christie Layne officiating. Ms. Jeannie Louvenie Archer, age 97, of Bells passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Bells Nursing Home and Rehab of Bells, TN. Ms. Archer was born June 17, 1923 in Lake County, TN. She is the daughter of the late James Arthur and the late Ninne (Swain) Palmer. She was a Caregiver for many years and loved her patients. Ms. Jeannie is survived by one daughter: Patsy (Ellis) Mize of Millington and three sons: Robert Darrel (Francis) Archer of Alamo, TN, Donnie (Zora Ann) Archer of Bells, TN and Dennis Archer of Liberty, TX. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Robert Leslie Archer a daughter, Janice Archer Beaird and a son-in-law Billy Beaird. The funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Monday, March 22 at Archer's Chapel Methodist Church, Halls, TN with Bro. Keith Harwell officiating. Carthel Melford “Charlie” Chandler, 94, died March 12, 2021 at this residence. BornFebruary 9, 1927 in McNairy County, TN, he was the son of the late Gillis W. And Ida Mai Austin Chandler. Charlie was owner of Chandler Furniture in Dyersburg where he worked until the age of 90. He was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and a member of the chancel choir. He and Mrs. Chandler taught Sunday School and served as table leaders in Youth Club. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Forked Deere Chapter of Sons of American Revolution. Charlie proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was an avid jogger for many years.

A private entombment service was held at Fairview Cemetery.

He later worked in construction and was on the crew that built the Mississippi River bridge Dyersburg. For the last 25 years he has worked with J. P. Berkley at Berkley Coding.
