Virginia Jo Suggs Green

Virginia Jo Suggs Green of Dyersburg died at her home surrounded by family and friends on September 4, 2021. Mrs. Green was 90 years old. She was born in Trion, Georgia on September 3, 1931 to Otis Lee and Susie Anderson Suggs and moved to Chattanooga as a child. After graduating from Chattanooga Central High School, she attended the University of Chattanooga and later worked as a laboratory technician at Erlanger Hospital where she met her husband of 62 years, Dr. James P. Green. They were married in November of 1952 and moved home to Dyersburg in 1956 after Dr. Green's military service.

Mrs. Green was a member of the Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, teaching the Crusaders Sunday School class for many years and was past chairman of the Bontheo Circle. She was actively involved in Girl Scouts and multiple charitable organizations including the Dyersburg Cotillion Club and Dyersburg Union Mission Auxiliary where she oversaw bake sales and summer camps.

Sue Love, 65, of Alamo, TN died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Alamo Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born in Marshall County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Alvin York Cleek, Sr. and Glenis Jean Lidy Cleek. She was a homemaker.

Sue is survived by her son, Charles Michael "Chucky" Davis of Alamo; two sisters, Brenda Hay of Alamo and Christine Connell of Bradford; two brothers, Alvin Cleek, Jr. and Jimmy Lidy, both of Friendship; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Donna was born on May 8. 1950, in Dyersburg, to the late Donald and Amy Adelene Hannah Chambers. She was married to Phillip Edwards for 21 years who survives her. Donna worked as a fedline operator at Security Bank for 12 years. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she loved and enjoyed her church family. Donna retired from Met-Life Insurance Company, after working there for 19 years. She was a member of the Class of 1968 at Dyersburg High School. She was an avid sports fan, loving her TN Vols basketball and football teams. She loved to travel with her family and friends, and she was happiest hosting her family and friends for gatherings and meals. Donna especially loved her grandchildren.

Danny believed in working hard. He owned and operated a drywall business and cattle farm for 45years. Upon retirement, he invested in residential properties and managed them with his wife and son. Danny served his country from 1969-1971 in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge for his national service.

James Iaron "Ike" Ware, 84, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Ike was born on May 29, 1937, in San Francisco, CA, to the late, Felton Ware and Eulala M. Ware of Gadsden, AL. Ike served in the United States Navy for 22 years, working in the aviation field and was a course supervisor teaching aviation structural mechanics at the Naval Base in Millington. After retiring from the Navy, he became a general contractor and enjoyed building as well as renovating many homes and churches in Dyersburg and West Tennessee area. Ike was a master carpenter who enjoyed his work and took pride in knowing he built a solid, well structured-home. He served as a Deacon at Southside Baptist Church and attended Trenton First Baptist Church.

Charlene Therese Bailey, age 84 of Dyersburg, passed away on August 27, 2021 at 12:30pm. She was born and raised in Chicago, IL. Mrs. Bailey attended Divine Savior High School and Junior College in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated from Alverno College of Music in Milwaukee, WI with a double major in Music Education and Liturgical Music. Her performance areas were organ and voice. Mrs. Bailey was an elementary and high school teacher for 22 years. She was also a church organist/choir director for most of her life.

He was married to Joyce Williams Seaton for 68 years and was a charter member of the Junction Church of God, where he was a devoted member, Sunday School Teacher and loved his church family. Doug was a licensed barber at Big Boy Junction, was a gourmet route salesman and worked at Oldberg for 21 years. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his family. Doug proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.

They have been sweethearts since the age of 12. If you knew Dot for very long, she would tell you about her heavenly home. Her life exemplified Christ to her family, her friends, and to those around her. Her passion in this life was sharing the love of Jesus and caring for her family. For many years she worked in the cotton industry and was a friend to all those who came in contact with her in that field. Linda was born on August 12, 1947, in Galena Park, TX, to Flora Louette Wilson and the late Corbett Earnest Wilson. She was a nurse with the State of Tennessee and had formerly worked with Sylvania, First Citizens Bank and for several local health organizations. As a nurse, she had passed the RN test for all 50 states. Linda was President of the Family Support Group of the 269th Military Police Company when they went to Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990 and 1991. She had received several FEMA certificates for her work during disasters. She was the former President of the Dyer County Republican Party, former President of the State Executive Committee Woman for the Western District of Tennessee and was a Representative at the Republican Convention of 2004 in New York. Linda was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

George was born on June 4, 1936 in the Chic community to the late George Elvin White and Kate Louise May White. He was a retired truck driver for Forcum Lannom Contractors. He has many passions and hobbies in life that included hunting, fishing and metal detecting just to name a few. He loved tinkering with Ham and CB radios. He was a technical class Ham radio operator and his radio call sign was KI4OUG. George was also a lifetime member of the NRA and even had his own You-tube channel called "Cornbread Jack". He was a den leader for his sons local cub scout group and served as a role model to everyone he met. George also loved motorcycles and eating. One of his proudest moments was when he received his GED at the age of 76. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
