She was a retired florist, a member of First United Methodist Church, a former Girl Scout leader and a former teacher at Mrs. Geron Brown's Kindergarten. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 Graveside at Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery with Dr. Phillip Cook officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; and two special friends Janie Hilliard of Crockett Mills, TN and Pauline Morgan of Paris, TN. Her love of music led her to serving the Lord as a frequent soloist at the church. She was a former employee of Heckethorn Manufacturing Company, and, also served as a paralegal secretary for West Tennessee Legal Services. Doris graduated from Dyersburg State Community College with highest honors. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Curry Funeral Home. Funeral services for Doris will be at 1:00 pm Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ, 815 Main Avenue, Dyersburg, with Brother Mickey Dodd and Brother Tommy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Brimm, Stan Watson, Ray Vestal, Wayne Vestal, Justin Davis, and Terry Vestal. Lynn Bizzle and Stephen Leake will serve as honorary pallbearers. She is survived by three daughters: Linda Paulette Davis and Niki Rose Brimm of Dyersburg and Karen Lee Curtis of Doniphan, MO; one son, Robert "Bubba" Wells of Dyersburg; one sister, Charlotte Bennett of DeBarry, FL; and three brothers: Aubrey Leake and wife Pauline, James L. Smith, and Steve Smith all of Dyersburg. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen "Smiley" Riggs and her parents: Aubrey "Toby" and Alene Taylor Leake.
