Nina Ann Middleton, age 88, passed away at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital on December 21, 2010. She was born January 2, 1922 in Newbern, Tennessee to Clemont Nuska "Nusky" and Adeline Pleasant Poor. Following graduation from Newbern High School in 1939, Nina Ann attended nursing school, becoming a licensed practical nurse in the 1940's. She worked for many years at the old Dyersburg Hospital and it's replacement, the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She devoted her life to caring for others, often during their darkest hours. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Middleton; her two daughters Kitty Middleton and Suzanne Hogan; her grandson Steven Hogan; her brother Elgin Poor of Memphis; and her sisters Bea Poor of Newbern, Hazel Vensil of Dyersburg, and Evie Hulme of Newbern. Left to cherish her memory are Nina Ann's sister Edith Robinson of Union City, plus many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2280 Parr Avenue, in Dyersburg. Funeral services will be held at the Curry Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23. Visitation with family will be from noon until 2:00 p.m., and with friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Nina Ann's friends make a donation in her name to their favorite charity. She was a retired accountant, member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg, Girl Scout Leader, member of the Garden Club and Bridge Club.
