Nina Ann Middleton, age 88, passed away at the Jackson-Madison County Hospital on December 21, 2010. She was born January 2, 1922 in Newbern, Tennessee to Clemont Nuska "Nusky" and Adeline Pleasant Poor. Following graduation from Newbern High School in 1939, Nina Ann attended nursing school, becoming a licensed practical nurse in the 1940's. She worked for many years at the old Dyersburg Hospital and it's replacement, the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She devoted her life to caring for others, often during their darkest hours. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Middleton; her two daughters Kitty Middleton and Suzanne Hogan; her grandson Steven Hogan; her brother Elgin Poor of Memphis; and her sisters Bea Poor of Newbern, Hazel Vensil of Dyersburg, and Evie Hulme of Newbern. Left to cherish her memory are Nina Ann's sister Edith Robinson of Union City, plus many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2280 Parr Avenue, in Dyersburg. Funeral services will be held at the Curry Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23. Visitation with family will be from noon until 2:00 p.m., and with friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, Nina Ann's friends make a donation in her name to their favorite charity. Mrs. Annie Childress, 94, of Dyersburg, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at her residence. She worked in the Finley school cafeteria for 17 years and was a member of Ft. Hudson Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Pirtle officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive visitors Saturday November 20, 2010 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Jerry) Asbille of Germantown, Tn. And Mary Joan (Sam) Embrey of Goodlettsville, Tn; three sons, Benny Childress, Roy (Brenda) Childress, and Johnny (Edna) Childress; one sister, Betty (Harold) Whittle of Dyersburg; 11 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren, and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Estel E. Childress; one daughter, Maxie Bell Olive; two sisters, Louise Ramsey and Lena Mae Sweely; and one brother, Frank Ferguson. Pallbearers will be Ryan Childress, Danny Childress, Scotty Childress, Eddy Childress, Nick Embry, and Nate Embry. The family requests memorials be directed to Ft Hudson Baptist Church. Mr. Roger "Speedy" Anderson, 47, of Dyersburg, TN died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at his residence. He was a member of Evansville Free Holiness Church and had been an employee with Ford Construction Company for 15 years. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Sorrell Chapel Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 5p.m. until 8 p.m. Survivors include his wife, Misty Pilkerton Anderson of Dyersburg; two sons, Joseph Anderson and Michael Anderson of Dyersburg; one sister, Helen Russell of Dyersburg; two brothers, Alvie Lynn Anderson of Dyersburg and John Wayne Anderson of Lenox; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lilly Bell Anderson; and seven brothers, Melvin Anderson, Jerry Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Allen Anderson, Bob Anderson, Danny Anderson, and Billy Anderson.
