James Rodney Henry, 71, of Dyersburg, TN, joined the heavenly choir on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at The Bridge at Ridgely. He was born in Ames, IA to returning WWII veteran James (Jimmy) Rudell Henry and Charlotte Stewart Henry on March 12, 1946. He was raised in Bruce, MS and later attended Mississippi State University, as did his father and two of his sons. Rodney was a member of the Famous Maroon Marching Band. His love for everything Mississippi State ran so deep that it was believed he bled maroon.
Rodney met Karen Walters in Memphis, TN on a blind date arranged by mutual friend Betty Crocker. They wed in September of 1970 and moved to Dyersburg in 1976 where Rodney joined Bob Newbill in what would become the accounting firm Newbill and Henry CPAs. Rodney loved and enjoyed his clients and their families all 40 years that he practiced.

Douglas Wayne Wilkerson 74, died Sunday, December 10, 2017 at his residence. Born June 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Clyde and Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilkerson. Doug served his country with 10 years active duty in the United States Marine Corp and a veteran of the Vietman War. One of his accomplishments during his military service was as a Chinese interpreter. Doug was an attorney and member of the First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2017, conducted by Reverend Ed White at Fairview Cemetery.

She is the daughter of the late Rhea and the late Ruth (Shands) Kennedy. She married Robert Denton Moore. She was a homemaker. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Robert Moore. She also leaves two sons: Ronnie Moore of Brighton, TN and David Moore of Dyersburg, TN. She is survived by three sisters: Laverne Booker of Halls, TN, Norma Ward of Clarksville and Rebecca Hutcherson of Halls, TN, and two brothers: Ronnie Kennedy of AL and Randy Kennedy of Dyersburg, TN. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm on Sunday at Halls Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3pm on Sunday at Halls Funeral Home. James Marvin Stephens, 74, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional. Born December 9, 1942, he was the son of the late Arlie Sr. and Lucille Stephens. He was retired from Dyersburg Electric System and a member of Tucker Street Church. He was a former employee of Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Edenton Lamb. He was a Dyer County Master Gardener volunteer for 10 years and spent many happy hours in the kitchen, sharing his homemade breads, canned goods and chocolate dipped strawberries with family and friends. James Marvin was a volunteer at the Bogota Community Center and was an avid fisherman.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Don Layman. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.

?John Warren Burris, 102, died Tuesday December 5, 2017 at his daughter's home in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Born Wednesday November 24, 1915 in Cedar County, Missouri, he was the son of the late William Hiram Burris and the late Lillie Maude Stephens Burris. As a teenager, John left home to find work during the Great Depression, making his way to California where he worked as a farm laborer, ranch hand, and for many years in the lumber industry in northern California. While living in San Diego, he was working at Consolidated Aircraft when Pearl Harbor was attacked. On January 2, 1942, John enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving over three years in the Pacific, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina when the Second World War ended. Returning to California, he owned various businesses, worked for Ventura County Department of Weights and Measures for several years, and participated in Poinsettia Masonic Lodge. On April 20, 1957 he and Carolyn Hope Ainley were married in Woodlake, California. In March 1961 he moved his family to Stockton, Missouri where he operated a cattle ranch. Following the family's return to Woodlake, California in June 1973, he built the family home, and participated in Visalia Toastmasters Club, Tulare County Genealogical Society, and Woodlake Presbyterian Church. In March 2004, John and Hope moved to Alturas, California where Hope died January 25, 2012. John moved to Dyersburg in August 2014.
He is survived by two daughters, Melodee Chapman and husband Willis of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Carolyn Hughes and husband John of Alturas, California; seven grandchildren Nathan Chapman and fiancee Erin Carrillo, Jacob Hughes and girlfriend Arien Church, Bethany Mayo and husband Josh, Janel Godfrey and husband Tanner, Ben Chapman and wife Laura, John Hughes Jr. and wife Camie, and Hannah Ashworth and husband Jake; six great-grandchildren Ezra Wallis Mayo, Jenna Elizabeth Godfrey, Silas Andrew Mayo, Jarrett Elijah Godfrey, Evelyn Hope Chapman, and Ainley Ann Mayo. He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard Ainley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Frank Ainley of Woodlake, California, a cousin Gerald Stephens of Bolivar, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
