Roy Brown Chandler

Mr. Roy Brown Chandler, of Dyersburg, passed away May 3, 2022 at West Tennessee Healthcare-Jackson General Hospital. He was born December 20, 1934 to the late Johnny & Pauline Chandler. He was a graduate of Dyersburg High School. Roy spent much of his life working in Dyersburg, as a young man at the Dyersburg Cotton Mill, where his parents also worked for much of their lives. He proudly served in the United States Army and returned home to start a new career with the Independent Life Insurance Company. He eventually moved on to work for the Colonial Baking Co. where he received several awards, including Salesman of the Year. He later worked as an entrepreneur, managing convenience stores in Dyersburg and Jackson. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, birdwatching and was an avid Bass fisherman. He also loved music and playing guitar. He was a long-time member of the Phillips Street Church of Christ in Dyersburg.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Coburn Chandler, of Dyersburg, his daughter, Rhonda Jamison, of Newbern, TN, his son, Christopher Roy Chandler, of Jackson, TN. He was loved as "PoPaw" by his grandchildren, John Chandler, Casey Chandler, Joshua Wilson, Charity Wilson, Bracken Wilson and Coley Jamison as well as eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul Chandler and his sisters, Joyce Chandler Dawson and Jewel Dean Griggs.
