Joyce was born on July 23, 1939, in Ridgely, TN, to the late, Norvel and Dorothy Warren James. She was a retired secretary with Elbridge Water Department. Joyce was a member of Bogota Baptist Church, where she loved to sing while her deceased husband, Bobby played the guitar. Her and Bobby's most favorite thing to do was square dance and clogging. They were really good at it too. Joyce loved John Wayne movies. She could have easily played a part in the movies because she knew them so well.

Don is survived by his wife: Sherrion Cox, one daughter: Rita Cox of Ripley, TN and one son Chris Cox of Ripley, TN; Brother of two sisters: Helen Jackson of Ripley, TN and Glendia Bunn of Halls, TN, and three brothers: Larry Cox, James Cox, and Danny Cox all of Ripley, TN. He also leaves four grandsons Dru Land, Aaron Odom, Blake Cox and Daniel Hadley, three great granddaughters and two great grandsons. Blan Maurice Stout, 87, of Dyersburg TN, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, September 11, 2022.

He was born November 28 th , 1934 in Wynne Arkansas to Autie Lavert and O.S. Stout. Growing up in Arkansas, Blan first attended Arkansas State University where he met his wife, Faith. They both then transferred to Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Theology. Blan served in ministry for the next 50 years in churches in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee. He had a passion for building churches through community outreach, bus ministry, and Christian Education. While serving in Memphis, Tennessee as Senior Pastor, Blan founded a private K through 12 Christian school. Continuing to fulfill his calling and passion, in the 80's, Blan built a church in Bella Vista, Arkansas from the ground up, where to this day, hundreds of families have been ministered to and richly blessed. During his ministry, he was faithful to donate his time to missions around the world. He helped build churches in Honduras in the 60's and 70's. He also loved traveling. One of his favorite trips was taking fellow church members to Israel to learn more about the Holy Land. Blan was known for his big smile and laughter, lighting up every room he entered. He had a great love of animals and the outdoors, especially fishing and any opportunity to spend time on a beach.

Mac was an avid gardener making sure Wesley Homes entrance was immaculate. She was known as the cook and caretaker of B Building friends at Wesley Homes. She was most proud of her Beauty Spot of the Month Award she received in 2015.

Mrs. June Wilkerson Palmer, of Dyersburg, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at AHC Senior Living & Rehab in Dyersburg. She was born in Martinsville, VA on May 7, 1939 to the late Clyde & Elizabeth "Betsy" Wilkerson. In the summer of 1958, while working as a waitress in Myrtle Beach, SC, she met and soon married a young U.S. Air Force Airman named John Palmer. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and worked as a business-education teacher and devoted homemaker. In 1965 they moved to Dyersburg, TN where he began to practice law with his uncle Rocky Palmer. John & June were long-time members of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed her ladies' bible study group as well as her ladies and couples Bridge Clubs. June was an active participant in the work of the National Alliance for Mental Illness at the local and state level, helping advocate and craft legislation.

She is survived by her son, Joe Palmer, her daughter, Julie Palmer, her grandson Jullian Galvan Palmer and her brother-in-law, Tom Palmer and his children, Anna Palmer Rimel and Mary Palmer and her nephew Kevin Wilkerson and his family, Patty Wilkerson, Holly Foster and Jane Anne Teague. She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Palmer, her parents and brother, Douglas Wilkerson and sister-in-law Jean Palmer.

Harold L. Franklin, Jr., 87, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Harold was born on October 12, 1934, in Lansing, MI, to the late Harold Franklin, Sr. and the late Marguerite Harvey Franklin. His career spanned over sixty years and included management roles at General Motors, Rockwell, ITT Teves, LTV, and Morton. He most recently was a supervisor with Nortek. Harold was a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He loved cruising, building model ships, collecting tools, and was a very active band parent when his children were in school. Harold enjoyed working with his hands, building his own homes and garages, restoring old vehicles, and tackling any other projects he could imagine. In his younger years, He enjoyed flying and skydiving, totaling 113 jumps. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy, being honorably discharged in 1954.

She attended the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and was the owner and operator of The Idea Station and enjoyed serving as a mentor to students at the Denman Jr. High School. She was very involved in the activities of the Republican Party on all levels and was a devoted member of the Fernwood Country Club and the McComb, MS, Garden Club. She loved spending her free time taking in all that the city of New Orleans had to offer. After moving to Dyersburg, she was active in the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Jessie W. Burt ,Jr, her daughters, Deana Self and husband, Scott of Dyersburg, TN and Mary Cass Stewart and husband, Mark, of Burlison, TN, her brother, David Hensley and wife, Cathy, of Bryant, AR, her sister, Diane Scott and husband Roy, of Clemson, SC and was loved as "Nana" by her five grandchildren, Coleman Self, Grace Ann Stewart, Walton Self, Tanner Stewart and Grant Self. She was preceded in death by her parents.

He has served in the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was chief deputy of the Dyer County Sheriff's Office and served as a counselor at the West Tennessee High Correctional Facility. Jack was a baseball coach for the Dixie Youth League and the travel ball. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg and was a member of the Dyer County Coon Club. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Jon left Dyersburg in 1975 to pursue a music career in Memphis. After he got settled in Memphis, he was awarded a position at Liberty Land theme park in 1977. In 1978, he formed and led a very popular band called "Rebel Yell". This band traveled the world touring in Europe, Asia, Pacific, and Mediterranean where he performed for USO shows.

Bobby was born in the Edith Community, to the late, Ocie and Era Trosper, on the family farm in Ripley, TN. He was a 1962 graduate of Halls High School. Bobby worked in construction that traveled all over the United States. He was in the United States Army and was a Combat Vietnam Veteran. He received the Army Commendation Medal with V device for heroism in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish, turkey and deer hunt. He loved his family and enjoyed having them over anytime, especially, for a fish fry. Bobby was a member of the Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Halls. He was a faithful member of his church and loved his church family.

June was married to John Hunter Reece Jr. on Jan. 4, 1951, and they spent 69 years building a beautiful life together. The couple lived and worked in both Halls, Chicago, and Ripley. Prior to her retirement in 2004 she worked as an insurance agent for S.N. Anthony's Insurance Agency. June was a member of Enon Baptist Church for over 50 years. June (Nana) was known for her love for her family and treasured being able to gather them around her table for a meal. June could almost always be found stirring around in her kitchen cooking for loved ones and friends. Outside of time spent at work, church and with family June also enjoyed reading, shopping, and eating out. June Reece is survived by her caring daughter and son in-law Tania Reece and Barry Farley, grandchildren Katie Reece Davis, Hunter and his wife Allison Farley, Molly Claire Farley, and her great-grandchildren Addilyn and Everly Davis, as well as, caretaker and friend, Ruth Ann Jones. Charlie was born in Oxford, MS on June 12, 1949. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, and acquired a Purple Heart Medal in the Vietnam War during his service to our country. Charlie endured multiple war injuries and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He pursued law at Martin University and afterwards drove locally and in the West Tennessee area. His last occupation was landscaping, which he really enjoyed. Charlie was a 1967 graduate of Dyersburg High School. His hobbies included music, comedy and television.

Eddie was also a skilled horseman and an active member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association(TWHBEA).

In addition to being a loving mother of 6 children, Harriet took care of many other young children in her home for many years. She spent almost 40 years working in the family business of Dyersburg Tax Services as the Office Manager working alongside her husband and children. She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, played the piano, and served in many other roles. Currently, she was attending Stanton Christian Church in Stanton, Kentucky. She was very committed to serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and living out his command to love others through the giving of her time, talent and treasure. Traveling, fresh fruit, ice cream, animals, jewelry and visits with family and friends were among her favorite joys in life.
